Craigslist Rideshare: Demon DJ

Yesterday I had a unique experience.

I am an avid user of Craigslist Rideshare, and I have yet to have a normal experience. That may be the reason I keep coming back and posting ads for my drives, even though I tell myself that I am simply hoping for a normal socialized human being to simply occupy a seat in my car, and split the fuel costs. Its not an irrational thing to hope for, given the last ride I shared I spent 20 hours under the constant dark veil of imminent death. Well, the fear of it. But that beats spending 20 hours sitting next to an over excited conversation narrator. “We’ve covered so many topics! I’ve never thought about why I turned out like my mother until you brought that up, Rideshares can be amazing!” Don’t do that… Let me try to get home without my steering your side of the car into a tree.

The DJ of the road.

The DJ of the road.

Anyway, yesterday I picked up a girl around my age…

Tokyo Airport

Its essential the airline serves mixed nuts or pretzels, I like to try to acquire two or three little packets because it is well known that stepping into an aircraft immediately sends one into a fierce fit of hunger. Given the small fortune it takes to purchase a cheese platter, aircrafts and airports are great places to test your discipline, Its no matter how many times you tell yourself you will bring a snack next time, its impossible. You will always be in a rush to leave your house to get to the airport; it is never contingent upon the time of your flight or where the airport is located.

Thankfully this airline supplied small packets of rice snacks with little salty pretzels, i have eaten six so far and four glasses of milk. I’m in a good place, at ease and comfortable. My neighbor isn’t too fond of me, the altitude gives me stomach issues and more importantly i secured the armrest the second she moved her arm to take her cheese platter from the air waitress. Although I try to preform discretely, It’s safe to say that my breeding looses its importance in the air, it is just one of those exceptions where I refuse my empathy. An airplane is the only wordily place I prefer not to find a beauty to my left or right, because when it happens, I am left to decide between 6 or more hours of physical or emotional discomfort.

Rome

The woman had a subtle charm to her voice which serenaded the roof of the Hotel Continental overlooking the unfamiliar city’s evening orange glow.We were there to acquaint ourselves with the team responsible for making the wedding run seamlessly. Mark, Curt, Joe, Alise , Michelle and I conversed as we built an appetite for dinner. When the cup met my lips, all ill inspired thoughts of the ancient city boiled to obsession and the crease above my brow smoothed.

Monaco

Monaco is a very peculiar  place. You may not notice anything very strange about it during the daytime besides the cars and the size, which is less than a square mile making it the second smallest country. But if you find yourself in the right places at night, you will question the reality of your current situation.  The only thing I regret about my week in Monaco is not being able to snag any photo’s of my extremely obscure nights, as I was not allowed to take any photos in the places I ended up.  Continue reading

French Riviera

Made some lasting friendships, some temporary friendships, and some weird/ wide array of experiences. From “free swimming” in Antibes at a gay nude beach and exploring abandoned mansions owned by a Persian prince in our birthday suits accompanied by our 65 year old nude friend Bernard, singing and playing guitar with an extremely talented soul group for my first time in a packed Old Town club to simply enjoying our candle lit dinners with a couple friends on the balcony each night.  Continue reading

Barcelona

My favorite part of Barcelona was a night spent in a brewery. Second to that was the museums and the art. Goudy’s ideas built and still currently being built were very cool to see. Because Picasso’s formative years were spent in Barcelona, the Museo Picasso has the most complete collection of his works, and using my Santa Barbara Student ID card from 2010, Joe and I were able to get in for free.

San Pedro Del Pinitar, and Granada

“Burn the cork.” Its a damn good Scottish saying that John engraved into my mind.
This saying has been hovering in the back of my mind since I headed west to visit JP in San Pedro Del Pinitar.  Him and his whole crew of retirees were such a kick. In particular, him and his buddy Scottish John, who taught me how much of a lightweight I am.
